Eating out may be fun, but is it putting a strain on your heart?

Each year Britons have 600 million fewer meals at home, preferring instead to eat in pubs, cafēs, schools or at work unaware that much of this food is high in fat, salt and sugar.

To address the problem in this region, Heart of Mersey (HoM) teamed up with partners to develop a much-needed Food Charter for Greater Merseyside.

The Charter recognises the important contributions that food service providers make to diet and health.

Food service outlets who become members of the Charter are making a commitment to provide access to nutritious, affordable and safe food by completing a series of assessment criteria.

If the eating place you've chosen has signed up to the scheme you can be confident that it's making changes that may help lower your consumption of fat, sugar and salt.
