Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership is one of 49 'County Sports Partnerships' (CSP's) that form a powerful national network to show leadership and connectivity in sport and physical activity across England.  Our vision is for an active and successful sporting country.  Our aim is to create a 'single system' whereby all agencies work together more effectively to widen access, increase participation, create clear pathways and improve levels of performance in sport and physical activity.

The core team of the Partnership is based at Moss Farm Recreation Centre, Northwich.

'Chester - Cycling Demonstration Town'

Cheshire County and Chester City councils made a joint bid for money for Cycling Demonstration Town status and was one of only 10 picked from 76 applications nationwide.

Chester was one of three places in the North West to have been chosen for a £2.4m share in more than £7m in Government funding. Blackpool will received nearly £2.85m and Southport £1.8m. The UK's first Cycling City was named as Bristol.

Proposed bridge

The funding will be used to improve and extend the existing cycling infrastructure and develop new links throughout the city and surrounding areas. Particular emphasis has been given to joining up with rail travel and park and cycle schemes and connecting with main commuter areas.

There will be the development of an enhanced cycle schools training programme linking with annual events both locally and further afield. The improved cycle route maps will link with key employment and leisure areas, promoting cycling as an attractive everyday activity.
