Smoking doubles your chance of getting heart disease, so giving up is one of the best things you can do.

There are several free, confidential NHS services throughout the region dedicated to helping people stop smoking. They offer:

  • Advice and support
  • One-to-one or group support sessions
  • Guidance on stop smoking aids such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)

If you want to stop, contact:

  • The Merseyside NHS stop smoking service on 0800 195 2131
  • The national QUIT helpline on 0800 002 200
  • Or speak to your GP or pharmacist

If you don't succeed the first time, don't give up. Thousands of people stop every year.
